Catholic Baptism Gifts: How Do You Choose the Perfect Gift?

CrossOut of the thousands of days you will spend with your child, there are handfuls which are extra extraordinary. The day of your child’s baptism is one of them. Baptism is a day of joy and rejoicing. A party atmosphere is entirely warranted! Parties mean special decorations and special gifts – but how do you plan for a baptism celebration and how do you choose the right Catholic baptism gift?

Celebrating a Baptism

To begin with, you will want to be sure that all of your loved ones are there with you to be part of this special event. Sending an invitation is one way to let others know just how important you consider the day. You can buy pre-made invitations, make your own, or order custom-printed invites, but make sure others know you want to include them in the celebration.

You will probably want to decorate for your celebration. Some families create extravagant displays for baptismal parties, others keep it simple. White is considered the traditional baptismal color. White robes, symbolizing purity, were worn by early saints for baptism and christening gowns are still white to this day. White flowers, white balloons, white ribbon, white cake or cookies with white frosting would be a good foundation to set the tone for this celebration.

Choosing a Catholic Baptism Gift

Gifts for a baptism can run the gamut. Your gift can be gender-specific or it may be a gift that works just as well for a boy or a girl. Here are a few suggestions that would work for either:

  • Take pictures for the family. This is a celebration about joining community so record the attendance of loved ones on this special day. You can put the pictures in an album or give mom and dad a stack of photos while placing one special picture of the child in a lovely frame.
  • Give a decorative cross. Crosses can be hung on the wall in the baby’s room or some have a stand so that they work well on a display shelf
  • Have an appropriate bible verse (Deuteronomy 6:5, Proverbs 22:6 for example) printed with calligraphy. Then mat and frame for hanging.

At The Printery House you can find decorative crosses, special frames or even have custom invitations printed. Baptisms are great days – shopping for them is easy at The Printery House.
